Graham and Rhona Beck of South Africa had a dream to create in Jerusalem, a project of lasting value. Mr. Beck envisioned a timeless building that should still look right in a hundred years and that did not pander to passing architectural fashion. At the same time, it should respect the Jerusalem tradition of building in stone along with applying modern building technology consistent with the cutting-edge know-how of its occupants.

A four-story atrium connects the two wings of the building. It serves as an indoor "park", and the social and cultural focus both for the project and the surrounding area. Concerts, art exhibitions, formal functions and public singing have put the Beck Science center on the cultural map of Jerusalem. The building houses two of the famous works of Auguste Rodin.
