In order to improve relations with the local Arab population after the traumatic events of October 2001 when 13 citizens of Sachnin were killed in the riots, the District Council of Misgav proposed the establishment of a joint Industrial Park. The idea received the backing of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and a joint steering committee was set up with representatives from the two local authorities.
